PoP!

INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION MADE UP OF TRANSPORT PALLETS

PoP is an interactive installation made from over 200 recycled pallets, housing 6 theaters that tell the story of the popcorn culture cycle: from the earth to transformation.

THE SYNOPSIS

Of all the enigmas that puzzle us, popcorn is undoubtedly one of the least. We and those around us enjoy it occasionally, like all the fruits and vegetables available to us. But come to think of it, the corn, the tomato, the potato, arrive on the table with the help of dozens of biochemical, vegetable, physical, commercial and even cosmic operations. The aim of the PoP project was to showcase Quebec’s agri-food world. Our intention was to illustrate, in a playful and interactive way, the connectivity and interdependence between all the natural and industrial elements that bring food from nature to the table.

We therefore proposed a scenography made up of transport pallets, directly echoing the agricultural environment, clad in vegetation, inviting visitors to wander to either side of a curved wall some 8′ high. Inside these inlaid pallets are “theaters”. These 6 theaters, each shaped differently (micro-mapping, mini-sets, LED screens…) reveal the 6 stages from the earth to our popcorn bag in the cinema.
