The Jacques Cartier Bridge, a Montreal icon, links the city to the south shore by spanning the St. Lawrence River. Its steel architecture, a veritable network of connections, inspired the concept of “living connections”. This project pays tribute to the bridge’s engineering prowess and its central role in the city.

The first connected bridge in the world, it will come alive every night thanks to intelligent, evolving programming, adapting to the rhythm of the seasons and the energy of Montreal. By day, it remains an emblematic landmark, but as soon as night falls, it wakes up and marks the passing of the hours, vibrating to the rhythm of the human and natural connections that make the heart of the metropolis beat.

Its luminous skin, which gradually changes with the seasons, will come in 365 colors. From the energizing green of spring to the bright orange of summer, from the deep red of autumn to the icy blue of winter, these transitions subtly evoke the evolution of time. The lighting, designed to respect the environment, reflects a sustainable artistic expression, in harmony with the bridge’s fauna, flora and users.

The energy of Montrealers is expressed in light flickers whose intensity varies according to the activity of social networks mentioning the city. The bridge thus becomes a real-time reflection of Montreal’s mood. Every hour, five-minute animations visually translate data such as weather, traffic or significant events, making the bridge a veritable barometer of Montreal life.
