The Astonishing

As part of the "The Astonishing" world tour by progressive rock band Dream Theater, a team of 19 animators, motion designers, and 3D modelers worked tirelessly to produce 150 minutes of intense, narrative visual content! We designed and produced the scenography and visual content that accompanies the band's musical performance live in concert during their tour. A visual design featuring fantasy characters was created to closely match the very essence of this bold rock opera. To further immerse the audience in the world of the show, an interactive installation was set up in the concert hall lobbies. This robot selects a spectator from the crowd and takes their picture. This spectator instantly becomes a member of one of the show's clans and is assigned a name. A photo ID card is then generated. They are then presented to the audience during intermission and become accessible online.
