The spheres are designed to create an ephemeral presence on the site. They are clearly artificial, somewhat foreign to the place, and very large. This combination of strangeness generates an appearance akin to the landing of an alien spaceship, transmitting a message through a subjective and silent visual code. The message is often highly surreal, abstract, and reflects local narratives and imagination.
They were deployed near hospitals during COVID to offer patients and citizens a bit of artistic comfort. Most often at Christmas to create a fantastic universe, but they were also deployed at art festivals to present the works of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists as a sign of unity. They have also been used as movie screens to project stories onto multiple spaces.
Due to their universal shape, they have become backdrops for major events, urban or video projection screens, as well as interactive stations for playful applications.
Their appearance evokes an immediate reference to the mathematician Georg Cantor on set theory.
Beyond their role as light sculptures, our ambition is for the spheres to become symbols of healing, imagination, and hope. We imagine them appearing in places recovering from hardships, responding to moments of collective challenge, and creating ephemeral sanctuaries where art invites reflection, soothing, and a renewed sense of possibilities.
