Generative nature
Montreal, Canada
The NōKs is an immersive and interactive artistic project deployed in various forms.
This version took place in a park on Montreal's Place des Festivals. The goal was to transform this urban space into a sanctuary of light, where every element, from the ground to the sky, told a mesmerizing story.
AN IMMERSION ON THE SCALE OF THE SQUARE
A dozen luminous trees, constructed at life-size using eco-design methods, are distributed. Some trees are open and observable from the inside, revealing different scenes of the NōKs' lives. They mark the path, illuminating the space in a soft and evocative way. Each tree is unique, representing a connection between nature and the NōKs. They integrate 2 small dwellings of the NōKs. These shelters, built into the trees, offer a glimpse into the daily life of this fictional colony.
Programmed light effects transform the space into a living, dynamic forest, while sound devices placed in the trees diffuse immersive sounds. Whispers, creature noises, and natural harmonies evoke the invisible life that animates this ecosystem.
A hologram is projected inside one of the two NōK dwellings. This illustrates their presence, offering a visual connection with the imaginary inhabitants of this universe.
