The NōKs is an immersive and interactive artistic project deployed in various forms.
This version took place in a park on Montreal's Place des Festivals. The goal was to transform this urban space into a sanctuary of light, where every element, from the ground to the sky, told an enchanting story.
AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE ON THE SCALE OF THE SQUARE
A dozen life-sized illuminated trees, built using an eco-design method, are distributed throughout the space. Some trees are open and can be observed from the inside, revealing various scenes from the lives of the NōKs. They mark the path, illuminating the area in a soft and evocative way. Each tree is unique, representing a connection between nature and the NōKs. They incorporate 2 small NōK dwellings. These shelters, integrated into the trees, offer a glimpse into the daily life of this fictional colony.
Programmed light displays transform the space into a living, dynamic forest, while sound devices placed in the trees emit immersive sounds. Whispers, creature noises, and natural harmonies evoke the invisible life that animates this ecosystem.
A hologram is projected inside one of the two NōK dwellings. It illustrates their presence, providing a visual link to the imaginary inhabitants of this universe.
