Shoulder to the Wheel
The Chicoutimi Pulp Mill hired Lucion to design and produce the “Shoulders to the Wheel” exhibit, which recounts the history of paper manufacturing!
Our goal was to provide an experience that allowed the audience to rediscover the history of Chicoutimi’s pulp and paper industry, going back to the beginning of the 20th century. Using multimedia and interactive tools, visitors were invited to discover the socioeconomic history of the area and to meet the men that built its great industries.
We also designed the “Sweat of Their Brow” projection outlining essential tools of the trade and cultural symbols associated with the transformation of wood into paper. The short film was created using archival animated images, as if it had been shot using a 16mm camera. The music and design helped submerse visitors in the pulp mill environment.
