“THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE IS A HISTORY OF MATTER ORGANIZING ITSELF” HUBERT REEVES

Emergence is a simplified science film accessible to all ages, but without being overly simplistic. Indeed, the film broaches complex concepts such as the birth of matter (from the infinitely large to the infinitely small), along with the organization matter and its various emergent properties.
The idea was to bring viewers on an exploratory adventure through the Universe and to experience a memorable voyage and feel the cosmic connection that exists between us and the Universe.

Producing Emergence was a challenge both in terms of the storyline and technical production. How do you tell the story of matter from the Bing Bang to the modern day in just 20 minutes? How do you visually recreate a moment in time as extraordinary as the Big Bang? How do you create the infinitely small particles that make up quartz? Or those of the atom, without swaying from scientific knowledge?

The film was also shot entirely in 4K 60p, presenting a daunting challenge for both animators and machine, but providing a fabulous realism to the perspective from space.
